Superintendent Kilbride's Update - April 3, 2020

As you may have already heard, Governor Mark Gordon has extended the state-wide school closure until the end of the month.  This action won't change anything for our staff and students, as we will be launching our distance learning plan on Monday. It just means it will continue as long as the closure is in effect.

Please remember to practice social distancing and avoid gathering in groups.  While I understand how much we miss one another, we need to take precautions to slow the spread of this virus.  I am so thankful for all of you that have been diligent in this practice and extremely appreciative of our staff that remains working to provide meals and sanitary cleaning to keep our students and staff safe. Have a safe weekend, pick another room for your kids to clean, and keep your spirits up.

Mr. Kilbride

March 27, 2020:  The school closure was extended to April 17, 2020. Classes will resume in a modified version on April 6, 2020.

We will share more information when available.

Dear SCSD #1 Family,

We hope this letter finds you and yours well. As you probably have heard Wyoming Governor Gordon and State Superintendent Jillian Balow issued a recommendation that all schools remain closed to students through at least April 3, 2020. This morning the SCSD #1 Board took action to close our buildings through April 3 with classes hopefully resuming on April 6, 2020.

Monday, March 23, 2020, the district administrators and I will have a conference call to re-access and make revisions as necessary to future plans. At this point, we do not plan on educationally serving students until April 6, 2020. During this time staff will be preparing for the return of students on April 6 or for providing distance learning if the closure should last beyond Monday, April 6.

Wyoming High School Activities Association director, Ron Laird, notified the district that all activities are suspended until Monday, April 6, 2020. No practices are allowed during this suspension. All spring district music festivals have also been cancelled, these were scheduled to be held the last three weeks of April.

We understand that the uncertainty of this situation is daunting and we all have so many questions. Hopefully, we will be able to provide direction soon. So that we can best serve you and your family through this unprecedented time please complete the survey so we can gain information such as; daycare needs, internet access, food needs, etc. Survey Link:  https://forms.gle/hwbLyK7hAsy75D2j7

Starting Tuesday, March 24, 2020 SCSD #1 will have sack lunches available at designated pick-up locations for any of our students. This service will be available at no charge Monday-Friday during this closure. Designated pick up locations are: TRHS, TRE, TRLC, BHHS, and the Parkman Post Office. Pick up times will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 PM.

We will continue to send information out as it becomes available.

Typed with chapped hands from excessive washing...

Pete Kilbride

SCSD #1 Superintendent
