Dear Staff, Students, Parents, and Community Members,

As I am sure you have all heard, the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a warning regarding the Novel Coronavirus COVID19. As a result, we have consulted with local and State Health officials to determine our best course of action to mitigate the spread. It should be noted that according to the Wyoming Department of Health, the risk factor for our state is low. However, we wanted to share best practices, as it helps prevent the spread of common colds and flu as well.

First and foremost, we would like to encourage ALL individuals to practice social distancing when you are sick. Remember, this is also flu season and these recommendations are always a good idea. Parents are encouraged to keep students home who are exhibiting cold and flu-like symptoms. Likewise, we encourage staff to refrain from coming to work if they have those same symptoms. Everyone is encouraged to wash hands regularly with warm water and soap, and to use alcohol based hand sanitizer when hand washing is not available.

The district will be taking steps to help minimize spread, such as encouraging frequent hand washing for all staff and students and we will be enforcing our policy to send students home that have a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher. Parents, please keep students home until they have been fever-free without medication for 24 hours.  We will also be using enhanced cleaning protocols by wiping down high touch surfaces in every school three times a day (normal for this time of year is twice).  Our nurses, along with the administration will be vigilant in monitoring the student body and staff as a whole for symptoms. We will also do our part to assist the Department of Health and CDC in tracking the spread of the virus through a process of reporting to those organizations.

Please remember, this is the height of flu season, which has very similar symptoms to COVID19. We must remember to be vigilant as individuals and as an organization to help minimize the spread should the virus reach our community. We will continue to monitor the situation and maintain communication with health officials to keep our community safe and healthy.

Be safe, wash your hands, and enjoy the arrival of Spring.

    Yours in Education,

    Administration and School Nurses
