Greetings! My name is Sara Jane Heywood.
I grew-up in Saint Paul, Minnesota and come from a family of many educators. For the past thirty-six years I have lived in Wyoming. My first year of teaching was at the Wyoming Girls School working with special needs students. I became the Reading Specialist at Big Horn, Elementary in 1997. I hold a K-6 Teaching Certificate, K-12 Reading Endorsement, Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in reading, and am a National Board Certified Teacher.
My husband Scott and I have been married for 26 wonderful years. Scott owns an international fly fishing company and travels regularly. Our son Ben and wife Bailey live in Durango, Colorado. The area is perfect for all the outdoor acticities they love. Scott and I have a Weimaraner named Gus, who is a great companion and is amazingly spoiled.
There are many things I enjoy doing outside of school including landscape design, gardening, traveling, running, reading, and spending time with friends and family. I am passionate about helping children learn to be confident and skillful readers who are prepared to pursue their life dreams.
